Dr. Chen Yumiao, Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor, research focuses primarily on intelligent design.
She has led a wide range of funded projects, including one Young Scientists Fund project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), one Humanities and Social Sciences Planning Fund project from the Ministry of Education, two Industry-University Cooperative Education Projects from the Ministry of Education, three Soft Science Key Projects under Shanghai’s Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan, and one project funded by the Xie Youbai Design Science Research Fund. She was also selected for the 2019 Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program (Category C) and the 2020 ECUST Young Talent Cultivation Program. In addition, she has presided over multiple horizontal industry collaboration projects.
Dr. Chen has published more than 40 papers in leading domestic and international journals and conferences, with over 20 indexed in SSCI/SCI (including one SCI paper in Q1 and six in Q2), as well as several articles in core Chinese journals. She holds two invention patents and more than ten utility model patents. Her design works have been featured in the Shanghai Design 100+ list, and she has guided students to win numerous national, ministerial, and provincial awards, including the second prize in the Mobile Application Innovation Contest of the China Collegiate Computing Contest, the national bronze medal in the “Internet+” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the first prize in the National College Digital Art and Design Competition (national finals), and the first prize in Shanghai’s “Huichuang Qingchun” Competition. She also played a key role in founding the Apple–ECUST iOS Application Development Club as its primary instructor and supervisor.
Actively engaged in advancing the ECUST Intelligent Interaction Laboratory, Dr. Chen explores the role of human-computer interaction research in intelligent system design. In response to the new era of intelligent interconnection and the integration of virtual and physical worlds, her interdisciplinary research on “Artificial Intelligence + Interaction Design” addresses the needs of emerging intelligent industries and the internet sector. The laboratory has partnered with leading enterprises including Apple Inc., SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, Shanghai Computer Technology Research Institute, Shanghai Guangwei Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., Shanghai Dafeng, Beijing Jinfa Technology Co., Ltd., and Fotile Group, providing design research and product development services.
