The Ceramic Art Laboratory, jointly established with the School of Materials, is an interdisciplinary hub that balances the preservation of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. It cultivates students’ modeling skills, artistic creativity, and aesthetic sensibility, while also allowing them to explore the dynamic relationship between material and form. The Laboratory is selectively open to ECUST, extending its influence beyond the School.

Practical training includes wheel-thrown clay modeling, plaster modeling, and the creation of ceramic artworks. Supporting both design-oriented courses—such as ceramic product and plaster modeling—and plastic arts courses like decorative sculpture, the Laboratory serves students in Industrial Design, Art Design, Sculpture, and Decorative Arts. It also functions as a teaching platform for university-wide elective courses.

The facility is fully equipped with comprehensive ceramic machinery, covering processes from batching and wheel-throwing to firing, ensuring an end-to-end learning experience.
