Urban and Rural Cultural Heritage Research Center

Publish time:2025-10-20View times:10

The Center operates as a four-in-one collaborative platform, advancing theoretical research on heritage preservation with a focus on the interactive mechanism of spatial planning–heritage conservation–social development. It seeks to establish localized protection frameworks by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as digital preservation and sustainable materials. The center supports governments by providing planning consultations and contributing to the formulation of local protection standards—such as heritage cataloging and revitalization guidelines—in line with national requirements for “comprehensive spatial coverage and holistic element inclusion.” It also fosters community-driven conservation by building networks that connect experts, local residents, and intangible cultural heritage inheritors.

Core Research Tasks:

① Conduct resource surveys and assessments to establish a multidimensional database for urban-rural heritage, integrating tangible heritage (historic buildings, sites) with intangible heritage (folk customs, traditional crafts). Utilize GIS spatial analysis technology to identify priority areas for conservation.

② Develop a value assessment framework by creating a four-dimensional quantitative model encompassing historical, artistic, scientific, and social dimensions. Implement hierarchical protection strategies through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).

Application Research Tasks:

① Spatial Planning Synergy: Propose a three-tier protection framework of Cultural Corridor-Historic Urban Area-Traditional Village, integrating heritage conservation into the national spatial planning One Map.

②  Innovative Revitalization: Design a Utilization-Promoting Preservation model, embedding cultural facilities in old building renovations, empowering agricultural heritage through ecological agriculture study routes.
