The Green Design and Carbon Neutrality Yangtze River Delta Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the Research Center) is the first research base established by the World Green Design Organization in the Yangtze River Delta region, supported by the School of Art, Design and Media at East China University of Science and Technology. Rooted in Shanghai, with a global vision for the Yangtze River Delta region and leveraging international expertise, the Research Center focuses on green design research while supporting ecological cultural development and low-carbon technologies and planning, thereby serving China's national emission reduction strategy.

Guided by the goals of “carbon peaking” and “carbon neutrality,”,the research center will focus on the research and practice of the whole process of green design.

Research platforms include Green design theory, education, evaluation and policy making, green technology innovation, carbon peak and carbon neutral model research, etc. Its research platforms include green design theory, education, evaluation and policymaking, green technology innovation, and carbon model research. Its practice platforms include formulating carbon peak and neutrality plans for national and local governments, establishing carbon monitoring systems, creating low-carbon strategies for enterprises and industrial parks, advancing green design methods for key technologies, and developing sustainable green buildings.

Drawing on the university’s strengths in chemical engineering, materials science, environmental studies, information technology, management, and social sciences, the center builds an interdisciplinary platform for green design. Rooted in industrial design and landscape planning, it promotes sustainable design concepts, fosters interdisciplinary integration, and trains professionals in eco-design—contributing Chinese solutions to global climate challenges.
