On the morning of October 14th, the 2025 Global Engineering Conference - the First World Green Design Conference was grandly held at East China University of Science and Technology. Over hundreds experts and scholars from government, universities, enterprises and international organizations gathered together to discuss the cutting-edge topics of green design and sustainable development. President Xuan Fuzhen of our university attended the conference and delivered a speech. Wang Jinnan, the chairperson of the World Green Design Organization and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Qian Feng, vice-chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Cheng Peng, secretary of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Shen Haitao, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of our university, and others attended the conference. Zhang Zhang, the vice dean of the School of Art Design and Media of our university, hosted the opening ceremony.
Xuan Fuzhen extended a warm welcome to all the guests from various sectors. He pointed out that the world is accelerating its transition from industrial civilization to ecological civilization, and green and low-carbon development has become a global consensus.
Qian Feng pointed out in his speech that the green and low-carbon transformation has become the inevitable path for global high-quality development.
Wang Jinnan systematically expounded on the four core pillars of the World Green Design Organization.
At the meeting, under the joint witness of Shen Haitao, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of our university, Jo Leinen, the honorary chairperson of the World Green Design Organization, Wang Hualin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering of our university, and Wang Jun, the dean of the School of Art Design and Media, the General Principles of the International Standard for Green Design was released.
The successful holding of this conference not only built a high-level exchange platform for the global green design field, but also fully demonstrated the mission and responsibility of East China University of Science and Technology in serving the national strategy and ing sustainable development. Taking this conference as an opportunity, the school will continue to deepen cooperation with international organizations such as the World Green Design Organization, strengthen the disciplinary characteristics of integration of science and art, cross-disciplinary innovation, and e green design to move from a consensus on concepts to systematic practice.
