On October 26, the 2025 Global Conference on Urban Sustainable Development for World Cities Day, themed Innovative Development and Building People-Centric Smart Cities, was grandly held at the Shanghai World Conference Center. Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Secretary Chen Jinin and Ni Hong, Party Committee Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, attended and delivered speeches. Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Mayor Gong Zheng announced the release of the 2025 edition of the Shanghai Manual. Invited to attend the opening ceremony, our university's Party Committee Secretary Jiang Chuanhai represented the institution to promote the innovative achievement of the Global Urban Sustainable Development Project—International Standard for Green Block Design.

Wang Jun, Dean of the School of Art, Design and Media, introduced the process and core content of the standard at the plenary session. This standard was initiated by the World Green Design Organization (WGDO) Standards Committee and jointly developed by multiple domestic and foreign universities, research institutes, and industry leading enterprises led by East China University of Science and Technology. It took three years to complete and is one of the first international green assessment standards for the entire life cycle of neighborhoods. The standard takes green environment, green facilities, green governance, and green technology application as evaluation dimensions, integrating the core elements of current standards such as ISO, United Nations standards, European Union standards, LEED, and Chinese national standards, to construct a systematic indicator framework covering 11 aspects such as spatial planning, ecological environment, carbon neutrality and adaptation.
